Ever wondered how your commuting experience differs to others? Each month we share the story of a real Cyclescheme cycle commuter and ask them seven questions to sum up their experience from their two-wheeled commute. This month, it's Ian.
CS: Where in the UK are you?
Stockport.
CS: What was your main motivation for getting a bike through Cyclescheme?
Necessity really - my wife and I only have one car, and commuting by public transport is unrealistic. It can take 2 1/2 hours, compared with 50 minutes via bike.
CS: How much did you spend with your Cyclescheme Certificate?
My bike was around £500. The accessories I have not I have built them up over time as and when required.
CS: How often do you commute to work by bike?
Usually it's once a week, but since September our son has been ill and on a reduced timetable at school, so logistically my wife has needed the car and I've cycled to work, so currently three times a week.CS: Where do you commute from and to?
CS: Where do you commute form and to?
From Stockport to Eccles across Manchester
CS: How has cycling affected your daily life - do you feel healthier? Have you saved money?
I feel better, certainly mentally it's made me much calmer, and clearly I'm fitter as my recorded times are quicker, and yes I'd say I've saved money compared to having a second car, or even using public transport. I do eat a lot more though, so maybe I've not saved as much as I think.
Are you ready to revolutionise your commute?
